Utah's Premier Financial Literacy Training for Teachers & Homeschoolers

Salt Lake City, November 2018

Since 2001, the Utah Jump$tart Coalition has hosted a full day professional development training focused on financial and economic education. This training, or Summit, brings together K-12 educators, nonprofits, business leaders and government agencies to empower Utah teachers and homeschoolers to teach financial literacy.

The Summit includes engaging, substantive presentations that make personal finance and economics accessible to teachers and home schoolers, helping them take charge of their financial future. The majority of the training sessions (80%) are focused on content and real life applications with the final portion (20%) focused on resources teachers and home schoolers can utilize in the classroom.

ADVOCACY & OUTREACH

The Utah Jump$tart Coalition works to promote adequate funding of financial literacy education in Utah and to increase cooperation between schools, businesses and community organizations. Financial literacy education is a long term effort with a lasting impact that requires a coordinated effort to produce long term success.

Special Education Guide

The Utah Jump$tart Coalition, with a team of special education and financial literacy experts, has created a guide to help special education students learn how to become financial literate and access Utah financial and economic education standards.

The guide is meant to be a collection of resources and lesson ideas that are easily adaptable to a wide range of abilities and age groups. The guide will provide ideas on integrating financial concepts into existing classroom schedules and lessons and allow special education students to access curriculum and resources that meet their unique needs. The guide is free and available for download here.
