The Utah Office of State Treasurer is thrilled to launch a new stock market simulation for Utah students in grades 4 -12. The first competition will run from September 5 - November 9. The program replaces the Utah Stock Market Game and is free for educators and their students to participate.
How It Works:
The Utah Treasurer's Investment Challenge is a 10-week simulation of Wall Street where teams of 3-5 students invest a hypothetical $100,000 in common stocks and diversified investment funds on the major exchanges. The challenge is designed for classroom use to help students understand the stock market, the costs and benefits involved in economic decision-making, the sources and uses of capital, and other related economic concepts in an integrated manner with other curricula. The program provides suggested lessons, assignments, and information for teachers to implement in their classrooms.
The top three teams from each division (Elementary, Jr. High, and High School) will be recognized at an awards banquet hosted by the Utah Office of State Treasurer.
